Méditerranée Technologies (MT) is a nonprofit organization set up in 1988 by the Regional Council and the central government with the support of the European Commission with the aim of disseminating and supporting innovation and technology transfer.
Today MT’s main mission focuses on designing, monitoring and implementing regional innovation policy.MT main activities can be summarized as follows:
- Coordinate the network of public-funded innovation support organizations (mainly devoted to incubation growth support and cluster development) gathered together under the umbrella of PACA INNOVATION
- Contribute to definition and implementation of the regional innovation strategy (Innovation status diagnosis, Innovation observatory and new approaches to innovation labs)
- Follow up cluster policy implementation at regional level and support “pôles de compétitivité” and regional clusters (PRIDES) activities
- Develop and support technology transfer at trans-European level through the Enterprise Europe Network (Med2 Europe) gathering together Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Languedoc Roussillon and Corse regions.
- Support the participation of regional actors in publicly-funded European innovation programmes (e.g. 7th framework programme) via the Med’Up2 initiative.
- Coordinate the PACA Technological Development Network (RDT PACA) aimed at supporting SME in the definition and implementation of their technological innovation projects
- Benchmark of regional innovation system and policy at European level through the participation in collaborative projects in the CIP and 7th FP and frameworks (e.g. ARISE, CLUNET, INNODEAL, OMC-PTP, TRANS2TECH)
- Represent the Region within different national networks and working groups (Regional Innovation Agencies conference, « SME agreement », ANRT, RETIS, …)
- Méditerranée Technologies took part in several European projects focusing on regional innovation policies in the 6th FP, the CIP, and the Interreg IVC and MED programmes (both as coordinator and partner)
- ARISE (Accelerating Regional Innovation Strategy Exchanges). The project (2005-2008), coordinated by MT on behalf of the PACA region, gathered together 5 European regions to develop methodologies and tools aimed at assessing and benchmark the impact of Regional Innovation Strategies.
- INNODEAL (pro-Inno Europe, Inno Nets), which involved 12 partners, had the objective of identifying best practices in innovation funding with a special focus on start-ups and spin-offs.
- CLUNET - Pro-INNO Europe, Inno-Nets. The project main focus was on clusters development via internationalization and incubation (2006-2009)
- TRANS2TECH - 6th FP. The project main focus is on the definition of new methodologies aimed at promoting transnational technology transfer and at facilitating the collaboration between academic research and enterprises.
- OMC PTP (Open Method Coordination; Public Technology Procurement) - 6th FP. Project focusing on the role of public procurement in promoting innovation in Europe.
- METTT (Mediterranean Transnational Technology Transfer) -Programme MED. Project aimed at favoring the development of a transnational cooperation network between researchers and industrials in order to support and promote the research outputs commercial exploitation.
- As mentioned above, Méditerranée Technologies coordinates the Enterprise Europe Network, MED2 Europe (the previous Innovation Relay Center and Euro Info Centres) covering PACA, Languedoc-Roussillon and Corse.
